California Girls Head Down Under - Australia and New Zealand



So, it has been awhile since I last posted anything.  I am back and inspired.  Three of us traveled from Los Angeles to Australia and New Zealand.  We got a fantastic price on airfare because we were willing to have a layover in Fiji.  I recommend Fiji Airlines, it was a very nice flight with very caring flight attendants.  We were able to get a fair amount of sleep on the plane, so we hit Sydney with a lot of energy.

Our accommodations were also very nice but not pricey.  The Maisonette Hotel, Challis Avenue.


The location of the hotel was perfect for us.  Down one short block and a flight of stairs and we were at the bayside.  Across the street from a famous Meat Pie place - Harry's Cafe de Wheels.  The other great thing about the location of the hotel was the proximity to the Hop-on Hop-off buses.  The bus stop was three short blocks up the street, very convenient.  Walking to the Hop-on Hop-off bus stop we noticed a grocery store, which as it turned out was where we purchased rolls and cheese for our first night dinner in Sydney.  Yum!!

The real beauty of the place are the many paths wondering through the nursery. There are so many little gems like the Farmhouse Restaurant in Newport Beach, it is fun to have a blog to show them off.

Canada! Oh Canada! Niagara Falls - Epic!!!

OMG!!  Niagara Falls is amazing!!  It was awe-inspiring.  There aren't enough words to describe how wonderfully beautiful it is.  I took many many photos but the one posted here is from the window table at the restaurant second level.  Magical.  Canadians are so proud of there falls, and rightly so.  I'm going to try to post a 12 sec video, so I hope it works. If given the opportunity to see this wondrous sight - do it. We were staying in Toronto downtown area, in late December.  Fairmont Royal York Hotel - Loved it. This is a photo of the hotel when we checked in at 11:00 pm.  Helpful hint they have room service at that hour.  Yay!! The hotel is located across the street from the train station and a few blocks from the CN tower. To get to Niagara Falls, we hiked up to the bus terminal and took a megabus to the falls.  It was reasonably priced. We thought this was cute.  Hiking up to bus terminal, here is an early morning photo of an ice rink.
