Fairbanks Alaska - California Girls Head North - Fell in Love - Northern Lights - Dog Sledding - Amazing!!!!!
Due to circumstances beyond our control, our five day November trip turned into a 24 hour stretch in Fairbanks in February. Absolutely, loved it. With the weather threatening a chilling -29 degrees, we still persevered and only had to contend with a -20. I have mentioned I love Southern California, well now I have to add Fairbanks, Alaska to the list of places I love. It was cold, but not as cold as I expected -20 to feel like. That is saying a lot from a native Southern California Girl ( ok truth be told way way past girl age, but who's counting, right?) From every taxi driver to hotel employee, everyone in Alaska is truly passionate about their love of Alaska. Proud beyond belief. We now know why, my daughters (who are fantastic adults themselves) and I learned that it takes a special individual to live in Alaska. It gets cold and they endure like it is nothing. Every Alaskan was ready to share about their state, I've never seen anything like it. A true l
